Statement

My painting practice is focused on combining portraiture and still life in a representational style. My subject matter has recently been concentrated on the environment of the art school as a source of inspiration. The idea that the dirt, grime and splats of paint embody past generations hopes and dreams, like a kind of surface archaeology, has been important in my work thus far.
With my move to study in Norway with the world famous painter Odd Nerdrum, I find myself being inspired by different approaches to painting. The insight he has given me into his style of painting and the concept of kitsch has sparked a new enthusiasm to develop my practice. This is an exciting time of exploration and I hope you will enjoy the results.
