Personal One to One Tuition
The private consultation sessions are tailored to the needs of individual artists of any age or ability. One off sessions can be booked as well as ongoing courses providing a comprehensive and structured program of exercises. Appointments can be arranged for anytime, from one hour to whole day sessions at a cost of £25 per hour.
- Art school portfolio preparations
- Critique and tuition on personal work
- Drawing and painting instruction

- History of art lectures
- Painting preparations (how to stretch a canvas, priming techniques, material
information, photographing your work, etc)
- Designing studio layouts (everything from furniture and equipment layout to lighting

Life Drawing
Students will gain knowledge through tuition from a trained professional of the fundamental principles of life drawing – proportion, form, tonal value, line and gesture – in order to construct drawings that accurately interpret the visual experience of the human figure. The programme of four classes will consist of a variety of short and long nude poses, acquainting students with the preliminary process of understanding the essentials of the figure, while also providing the opportunity to develop a more complete life drawing. Spaces are limited to five students in order for everyone to fully benefit from the tuition provided.
Advanced Life Drawing
This class is for people who have completed a block of life drawing with Nicole Porter or have a lot of life drawing experience. Taking the skills covered in the life drawing class onto the next level with challenging poses and further tuition. Spaces are limited to five students in order for everyone to fully benefit from the tuition provided.
Portrait Drawing
Students will gain knowledge through tuition of the fundamental principles of portrait drawing – proportion, form, tonal value and line – in order to construct drawings that correctly interpret the visual experience and achieve an accurate likeness of the model. The programme will consist of a variety of short and sustained poses, acquainting students with valuable exercises as well as the opportunity to develop a realised portrait drawing. Spaces are limited to five students in order for everyone to fully benefit form the tuition provided.
Portrait Painting
Students will gain knowledge through tuition of the fundamental principles of painting by learning how to implement a limited palette. By learning how to mix with just black, white, red and yellow, students will obtain a deep understanding of colour. Lessons will be given in proportion, form and composition in order for students to construct paintings that accurately interpret the experience of the human face. The programme will consist on one sustained pose, acquainting students with the preliminary process of creating an under-painting and how to develop it over several weeks to produce a resolved portrait painting. Spaces are limited to five students in order for everyone to fully benefit form the tuition provided.
Copyist Class
The art of copying is how the Old Masters started their training and is an incredibly valuable exercise. This practice will further your understanding of the painting processes behind your chosen artwork. In this class, each person will select a masterpiece to copy from the collection at Aberdeen Art Gallery. Please get in touch for more details.
Corporate Workshops
Specially organised workshops can be arranged for organisations looking for something different to do as part of a social committee or team building activity. Collaborate with fellow colleagues to create your very own masterpiece to hang on the wall of the office boardroom.
